Isaiah 30:21
21 Your ears shall hear a word behind you, saying, "This is the way, walk in it," Whenever you turn to the right hand Or whenever you turn to the left.

Romans 6:16
16 Don’t you realize that you become the slave of whatever you choose to obey? You can be a slave to sin, which leads to death, or you can choose to obey God, which leads to righteous living.

1 John 3:10
10 So now we can tell who are children of God and who are children of the devil. Anyone who does not live righteously and does not love other believers does not belong to God.

A gifted athlete or musician can do nothing to change the body he/she was given, but in order to experience their God-given destiny, there is a path they must take that will develop their gift to its fullest potential. The degree to which that path is chosen over the many other diversions that arise throughout their life will determine how well the gift is utilized for a purpose. Highly gifted people are often never even identified in their gifting because they have given their time and energy to meaningless side paths. Who they really are and what they are really capable of never get to arrive at their full potential because of alternate paths chosen.

We have been given this wonderful gift of life in Christ that we can do nothing to change. It comes with an identity and heritage that we can do nothing to earn or merit. However, there is a destiny for this gift that relies upon choosing a path that doesn't divert to alternative meaningless ends. What has been promised for us along this path is an endless assurance of blessing and goodness as who we are becomes known by what we do. However, with every choice to serve another pathway, there is separation from identity with our precious gift and the blessing that comes with that identity. Life will always be full of paths that entice with their billboards and lights, but at each fork in the road,  there will be something other than the notions of the flesh to listen to. For those who have already chosen time in the presence of the Lord, His voice will be guiding from the inside, to the right, or to the left. As the Source of our gift becomes the voice of our choices, our pathway will take us to be known as His children, fulfilled in our purpose in righteousness.
